Alanna Smith is one of the female athletes forced to compete against the two males who now identify as women.
Transgender Athletes Joined Her High School Track Team
“Even before I get to the track, I already know that I’m not going to get first place, or maybe even second place,” Alanna said.
“And it’s really hard knowing that because I know that no matter how hard I work I won’t be able to have the top spot.”
But Alanna is taking a stand, along with 16-year-old athlete Selina Soule. With the help of Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), Alanna and Selina have filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education Office of Civil Rights, who has agreed to investigate.
ADF has since set up a petition to encourage the Trump Administration and Members of Congress to safeguard the athletic and academic futures of young women.
Christina Holcomb, ADF Attorney said, redefining biological sex to mean gender identity creates problems “like what we’re seeing in the state of Connecticut, where biological males can come in, and based on identity alone, dominate women’s sports.”
“Biology, not identity, is what matters in athletics,” Ms Holcomb said.
