Police say arrested man threatened San Antonio mayor 14 times in two days - By Sara Cline (MySA) 12 Oct 2019

A man accused of sending more than a dozen threats to Mayor Ron Nirenberg through Facebook Messenger whose tone made the mayor’s staff think he could be “the next mass shooter” was arrested Friday, according to a warrant affidavit.

Adam Thomas Converse, 25, was charged with making a terroristic threat to a public servant and resisting arrest, both Class A misdemeanors.

Converse sent at least 14 threatening and expletive-laced messages to the mayor through the messaging app on Oct. 4 and Oct. 5, the document states.

“It would be nicer to leave you all dead with no hope of life after death ... I want to see people dead,” one of the messages read, while others stated, “People will lose hands, arms, feet, and heads. Don’t even try me,” “I’ll burn you” and “I’ll silence you all for good,” according to the affidavit.
In another message, Converse demanded money and wrote “I’m going to stab you,” the affidavit states.

The document said the mayor’s communications director noticed the messages and reported them to San Antonio Police, telling officers that “his office feared (Converse) could be the next mass shooter based on his comments.”

The director was unnamed in the affidavit. Bruce Davidson, who has that title, said Saturday the office would not comment on the arrest or on the mayor’s security.

In the affidavit, a San Antonio Police Department detective stated investigators believed Converse was capable of carrying out violence, adding that he was recently placed in an “emergency detention.”

On Oct. 5, officers working for the department’s Mental Health Unit went to Converse’s residence, where they saw him walk out with a large machete in his belt loop.

“He stated he was a contract assassin with the government and if he had a license to kill, he would kill people,” the affidavit states.

While police attempted to detain Converse, he resisted by putting his arms behind his back and attempting to pull out the machete, the document states. He was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for an evaluation and later arrested, the affidavit said.
